  1. Narconon saved my life… C.S.
"Narconon saved my life! I was on a downward spiral from my drug/alcohol use and pretty much accepted that there was no answer for my life. I had been to two other treatment centers before Narconon and truly believed there was no hope for me…"

  2. I struggled with addiction for 20+ years, … D.B.
"I struggled with addiction for 20+ years, I had tried several (maybe as many as 10 programs) with little or no success. I would go to treatment, detox, start to feel better, get released and then I would get a craving and go get some drugs and the dwindling spiral of addiction would start all over again..."

  3. I am a recovered drug addict… D.D.
"I am a recovered drug addict. I was heavily addicted to alcohol and crack cocaine and was spending about $800 dollars a day to support my habit. I had tried to kick my drug habit through the traditional methods, I went through 12-step programs and attended countless AA meetings…nothing worked until I found Narconon of Oklahoma."

  4. Before Narconon I had been using about $100 worth of heroin a day… E.T.
"Before Narconon I had been using about $100 worth of heroin a day. I had also been doing everything associated with getting $100 dollars a day. I knew I had to make changes in my life or one of two things was going to happen: Death or Jail. On the 23rd of April 1998 I made the decision to live my life without drugs. I went to Narconon the very same day."

  5. When I started doing drugs my life, as I knew it, came to a sudden halt… E.D.
"When I started doing drugs my life, as I knew it, came to a sudden halt. When I lost things, such as my apartment and car, it felt as though I had lost everything. The truth of the matter was that I lost everything that created a comfort zone in the drug life."

  6. At 13 years of age I took my first drink, by the age of 21 I checked into my first rehab… E.D.
"At 13 years of age I took my first drink, by the age of 21 I checked into my first rehab. It began by the usual experimental drinking in a small rural town in Pennsylvania. Being that I was shy, alcohol was a gateway to communication for me and I felt that I was more fun when I was drunk. Soon after I was introduced to marijuana. From the moment I took the first hit I was hooked. For those who think marijuana isn't a gateway drug keep reading."

  7. At the age of 20 I became a statistic when I started using heroin… E.C.
"At the age of 20 I became a statistic when I started using heroin. In fact, we are now seeing, the glamorization and use of heroin in the media and changing patterns of drug use among youth. With heroin's increased purity and decreased prices it is essential that the public have information on this topic. According to the 1998 National Household Survey on Drug Abuse an estimated 2.4 million people had used heroin at some time in their lives, and nearly 130,000 of them reported using it within the month preceding the survey."

  8. Today marks the 61st day I have been free from drugs and alcohol… K.M.
"Today marks the 61st day I have been free from drugs and alcohol. I cannot express enough what Narconon has done for me during my program this time around. The program I have just completed has made so many improvements in my life. Specifically, I found that I am able to read better, clearer, and with a much better understanding. Before Narconon Arrowhead, I found reading a difficult, disturbing, and annoying task. It felt more like work than pleasure. I now enjoy reading and have been getting through more books now than I ever have in my life."

  9. At the age of 16 I was introduced to a drug that I abused for over three years - LSD… E.C.
"At the age of 16 I was introduced to a drug that I abused for over three years - LSD. It was first given to me by my 19 year-old-boyfriend who told me that the effects of this drug were like nothing else; that by taking this drug I would be able to see the world like I had never seen it before. After hearing that I was all for it. What I was unaware of was the fact that LSD is the most potent hallucinogen known to man. It was originally synthesized in 1938 by Dr. Albert Hoffman, but its hallucinogenic effects were unknown until 1943, when Dr. Hoffman accidentally consumed some LSD himself. Following this accidental dosing, LSD was used as a research tool to actually study mental illnesses."

  10. For five years I knew nothing but drugs and unhappiness… M.L.
"I am feeling great. I was so depressed and I felt like I had not reason for living before I came here. Narconon has changed my life. It has given me hope. I feel 100% better. I feel like I can do anything. Narconon has given me a better life. Narconon has supplied me with the tools to stay clean and live a better and filler life. I am from Altoona Pennsylvania, a small town with a lot of drugs. Heroin took over my life."

  11. When I arrived at Narconon I was lost. … E.D.
"When I arrived at Narconon I was lost. I had used drugs for almost seven years. I did not know what direction my life would go in of if I even wanted to go on at all. When I walked in the door, and for the first time in a while, I felt safe. I didn't have to worry about when and how I was going to get my next fix. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders."

  12. I came to Narconon in 1990. At that time I was not a happy person… R.R.
"I came to Narconon in 1990. At that time I was not a happy person. Though I maintained in life I found that I had times when I was extremely depressed and just didn't care. All through my teen years I had done a lot of drugs and thought that life was a party but when my early 20's came and my life had no direction I found myself increasingly depressed and confused about myself."

  13. My days, hours weeks were consumed with finding a solution to my daughter's drug addiction, which seemed an impossible task… S.D.
"I am the mother of five beautiful, intelligent and talented children. I gave up a lucrative and rewarding profession so that I could spend my life raising my children. I wanted to be part of every moment of their lives. As every mother does, I made plans. Those plans were for my spouse and myself and of course, our children. We want them to be healthy, educated and successful."

  14. I came to Narconon a shell of a man, all I had was a desire to get better…R.V.
"I am writing this success story to share my experience, and to demonstrate that the nightmarish plight of an addict is not hopeless and that recovery can be a reality. I started drinking alcohol at the age of 13. I found that if I drank and smoked pot, I was automatically accepted into a "group". Needless to say, this was not the type of group my parents, or anyone's parents would be happy to see their son or daughter running with. For me, being part of a group, and the feeling of acceptance was more important than anything else, including all of the moral upbringing and discipline that my parents strived to instill in me. I now know that I chose a solution to a problem, which was the beginning of an addiction I would be fighting for a long time."

  15. It all started when I was 14 years old. . I remember it like it was yesterday, we stole a bottle of vodka from my parents… S.D.
"It all started when I was 14 years old. I got drunk with a few friends in the woods near my house. I remember it like it was yesterday, we stole a bottle of vodka from my parents and it was on. We got so hammered and I was so hung-over. It was a horrible situation. I vowed that I would never drink again, which lasted about two weeks. Soon I began to smoked pot constantly. By 15, I had smoked crack, snorted cocaine, taken LSD and was still drinking and smoking pot on a regular basis. I was playing soccer for my high school and my grades were still good. The next year was when things got worse. I found heroin and started to use very slowly. I didn't believe that I could get addicted and let a little powder control my life. I was dead wrong. I managed to keep most of the areas in my life together, for a while. I graduated high school 3rd in my class, had a great girlfriend, good friends, and a wonderful family."

  16. Since I have come to the Narconon Program I have freed myself from the bondage of drugs and manufacturing… T.C.
"Since I have come to the Narconon Program I have freed myself from the bondage of drugs and manufacturing. I have a life again and I am a better mother, daughter and my church and community have sent cards and letters. I have gotten cards and letters from people that I don't even know that have been praying for me to recover from my addiction."

  17. Before I came to Narconon I was lost. I have been to several other rehabs within the past year and I couldn't stay clean… T.M.
"Before I came to Narconon I was lost. I have been to several other rehabs within the past year and I couldn't stay clean. I had no idea where I was going with my life, I really didn't even know where I had been. I just knew that what I was doing wasn't getting me anywhere. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had lost hope though I didn't think I could be helped and I was about to give up. I had no more tricks to pull and I couldn't fool people anymore. My sister found out about Narconon through a friend's family who had seen the ad on CNN. I was a little hesitant at first because I had been to other rehab's and none of them had worked. I learned a little more about Narconon and I realized that it wasn't like any other program. I decided to come in for help."

  18. My name is Derry and I wanted to share a little information I learned about Cocaine a little too late… D.H.
"My name is Derry and I wanted to share a little information I learned about Cocaine a little too late. I have been clean for 4 years and have totally rebuilt my life. I do however want to share as much quality information as possible about drugs, especially cocaine with as many people as I can so that hopefully some won't have to put themselves through what I went through. Cocaine is a stimulant that heightens alertness, inhibits appetite and the need for sleep, and provides intense feelings for users."

  19. I am a 22-year-old former heroin addict. I went to high school in a suburb… J.R.
"I am a 22-year-old former heroin addict. I went to high school in a suburb just outside of Detroit and began using random drugs starting at the age of 11. At first it was drinking, then weed, then acid and coke, this eventually moved on up to heroin when I was the ripe old age of 15. It started out as something to help forget what was really going on with my life; I had just gotten out of a relationship with a physically abusive boyfriend. I went to a friend that was a known heroin user and just plainly asked her to hook me up with some, she did this. From the first time to the last time I used it was always intravenously."

  20. Mine is a story of girl meets boy, boy proposes, girl marries CRACK Addict… J.J.
"Mine is a story of girl meets boy, boy proposes, girl marries CRACK Addict. I can't say I didn't have my suspicions before I said "I do", but as with most, I guess I was in denial too. I just chalked it up the erratic behavior to "He's sewing his oats before he ties the knot". One week after we returned from our honeymoon, my husband left to help his Aunt move and didn't come home until 4 am. Needless to say, the honeymoon was definitely over. That's when he confessed it was drugs."

  21. I can never forget my first day at Narconon… G.L.
"I can never forget my first day at Narconon Chiloco. I don’t ever want to forget it because it is still on that day that makes me live every day to the fullest every minute. I had never been to a rehabilitation center this size and I was scared. This turned into a want to leave situation."

  22. I started out a pretty good kid. By tenth grade I started focusing more on "having fun" than my school work and my grades started to slip a little bit… L.C.
"I started out a pretty good kid. In fact, I usually had all A's and was in upper-level classes. I even played sports, learning quickly with natural talents. Moving around to five different elementary schools before I was nine years old didn't seem to phase me. I rarely had a hard time making friends, once I came out of my shyness that is. Finally in fourth grade my family settled down in one spot and I had a chance to really get grooved in. High School soon came and I was playing for the school's basketball and baseball teams. By tenth grade I started focusing more on "having fun" than my school work and my grades started to slip a little bit. I got drunk for the first time on New Year's Eve after I turned sixteen. I remember getting so sick that I swore to myself I would never do that again. That promise didn't last too long."

  23. When I was 15 years old, I started down the road to chaos and drug addiction… M.T.
"When I was 15 years old, I started down the road to chaos and drug addiction. I felt like I didn't fit in anywhere and I had no tools to confront my life. I thought that drugs were my only solution. Despite having seen many friends of mine become degraded heroin addicts, I felt like the fleeting peace that I got from using heroin was worth it. I was using heroin, cocaine, LSD, marijuana and anything else I could get my hands on and my life quickly started sliding out of control."

  24. I have a daughter that has been abusing drugs since she was 13, although I only realized the problem a couple years ago… L.T.
"I have a daughter that has been abusing drugs since she was 13, although I only realized the problem a couple years ago. The signs were there but I just didn't want to see them. My child doing drugs? You must be kidding. She comes from a close family that are always there for each other, she is extremely bright, liked my everyone that meets her - but obviously struggling with emotions and feelings that we couldn't help her with. She also had problems picking the wrong friends and "boyfriends". She always told us how strong she was, but they had a way of manipulating her like nothing we had ever seen before. I was very scary - we felt so helpless."

  25. Narconon saved my life… C.S.
"Narconon saved my life! I was on a downward spiral from my drug/alcohol use and pretty much accepted that there was no answer for my life. I had been to two other treatment centers before Narconon and truly believed there was no hope for me…"

  26. At that moment I made the decision to come to Narconon and I had this overwhelming feeling that the best thing in my life was going to happen there… M.J.
"I remember the first time that I ever shot up narcotics. I felt this overwhelming sense of peace that I had never experienced before in my life. For the first time in my life, my head was quiet. The massive amounts of thoughts that went through my mind every waking minute of the day kept me in a constant state of unbearable discomfort. I allowed that discomfort to control my every decision, resulting in many years of bad decisions. I had always felt that I could not do anything right, that nothing I ever did was good enough. My mind was always telling me how "less than" I was, and the crazy part was that I believed it to be true. I had always been an over achiever, (a 3.9 grade average wasn't good enough). I always pushed myself to be the best, but my best was never good enough, according to my own mind."

  27. My addiction to this narcotic began with a prescription of Vicodin. After abusing it for the weeks following a surgery that I had was told by friends that one OxyContin® was equal, in potency to a few Vicodin pills.… E.C.
"Purdue Pharmacy introduced OxyContin® in 1995 as a controlled release formulation of oxycodone. It was intended for use in the treatment of chronic moderate to severe pain when a continuous, potent, narcotic pain reliever is needed for an extended period. OxyContin® contains a large amount of active pain reliever as compared to other narcotic products."
