I have a daughter that has
been abusing drugs since she was 13, although I only realized the problem a
couple years ago. The signs were there but I just didn't want to see them. My
child doing drugs? You must be kidding. She comes from a close family that are
always there for each other, she is extremely bright, liked my everyone that
meets her - but obviously struggling with emotions and feelings that we
couldn't help her with. She also had problems picking the wrong friends and
"boyfriends". She always told us how strong she was, but they had a way of
manipulating her like nothing we had ever seen before.
It was very
scary - we felt so helpless. The hardest part as a parent was watching our
intelligent, beautiful, compassionate, empathetic, and loving daughter destroy
her self-esteem, health, future and relationships. We tried finding suitable
rehabilitation centers, but until she wanted it, they would not accept her.
After taking her to the emergency room where she begged for help, waiting
approximately 6 hours while they monitored her vitals and drug tested her, and
then watching the ambulance take her off to detox, we were finally on our way.
She way finally going to get the help she so desperately needed and deserved.
After frustrating experiences in detox (where they started her on three new
prescription drugs) and a couple of centers where group discussions and
worksheets were the course of actions, I finally turned to the Internet in
desperation. That's where I found Narconon.
They were very helpful,
understanding, and willing to accept our daughter even though she wasn't
thrilled with the prospect. Thus began a tough time for her and the patient
staff at Narconon Arrowhead. Instead of giving up on her when she was negative
or when she did thing to try to get suspended, they gave her much needed
emotional support. They literally saved her life. I can't describe what a
relief it is to tknow that she is in a safe, caring and learning environment. I
don't panic every time the phone rings; I don't stay awake all night praying
that my daughter isn't in jail or worse, dead; I don't cry over the fact that
she is in a controlling and abusive relationship. I smile when I see the way
she treats her brothers and grandparents now; I burst with pride when she
thanks my husband and myself and says those three words; 'I love you,' and most
important I an thankful that she feels good about herself again and realizes
that life can be fantasic without all that garbage in her system and that she
does have a lot to offer this world.
She has had some set-backs on the
road to being stable but I do feel that I am getting 'my old daughter' back and
that your program will finally work for her. Thank you from the bottom of my
heart for being there when she had no where else to turn, thank you for caring
when it seemed that no one else did, and thank you for helping her realize
again the beautiful person that she is (both inside and out).
